Lambert '24 Commits to Notre Dame, Sullivan '24 Picks Harvard

Two Catholic Memorial football team members have committed to play football for Division 1 programs in 2024.

Guerby Lambert ‘24 and Brandon Sullivan ‘24 have announced that they have committed to the University of Notre Dame 和哈佛大学 University, ending speculation regarding where two of the top offensive linemen in Massachusetts will play in fall 2024.

A four-star recruit and All-American, Lambert is ranked as the 48th top national recruit in the Class of 2024, the second top offensive lineman in his class, and the top recruit in the state of Massachusetts. He attracted offers from nearly two dozen schools before narrowing down his choices to Notre Dame, 俄亥俄州立大学, 波士顿学院, 和哈佛大学.

“I feel good, it’s like a relief. I was hoping to make a decision before the season, but it was a close one, a very hard decision,兰伯特说. “I was leaning towards Notre Dame for about a month.”

Lambert cited Notre Dame’s academics and the quality of the football team’s coaching staff as part of the reason he chose to take his talents to South Bend, 印第安纳州. He was impressed with head coach, 马库斯·弗里曼, who he called charismatic, a very easy coach to talk to, and someone who holds his team to a high standard.

“The coaching staff and everyone there are amazing and I know they can help me improve in athletics as well as academics. With their network, I am going to set myself up for the next 40 years, whether that future involves football or something else,兰伯特说.

He also got some encouragement from CM graduate and soon-to-be teammate again, 特拉奥雷来自日本 who is a member of the Notre Dame football team.

“He was telling me how much they can do for me. Nothing with too much pressure, just what they can do,兰伯特说.

The road to one of the most prestigious college football programs has been a most unexpected tale for Lambert. Originally a soccer player when he arrived at CM in 2020, he was encouraged by football defensive coordinator Michael Milo to try football during the COVID-Fall II season in early 2021. Despite some concerns from his mother, ressaurances from Milo and athletic trainer Jephté Soulouque brought Lambert onto the football field.

“The fact that I played football was a surprise to me because I never played organized football. I never played a football game. The only football experience I had was throwing it around in the backyard with my family. If you told me all this back then, I would have thought you were crazy,兰伯特说.

Sullivan’s commitment to Harvard follows offers from several schools including Columbia, 耶鲁大学, the University of Pennsylvania, 圣十字, and 波士顿学院. His decision to join the Crimson came in August, just before the start of the school year.

“It is a dream of mine to play Division 1 football. Committing to Harvard so early reassures me that I can have a good year and focus on CM Football. Committing to one of the best institutions in the world was a factor. I feel amazed and grateful to have that opportunity,” Sullivan said.

Sullivan said that when he visited Harvard, he saw a team and brotherhood that is unmatched by anything he’s seen, noting that it’s a competitive group that holds each other accountable, as does coach Tim Murphy and his staff.

“The coaches are very professional. They treat everyone with respect and they treat you as an adult. They expect the best of you not only on the field but in academics,” Sullivan said.

In addition to their football activities, Lambert and Sullivan are both members of CM’s peer ministers program, participate in the National Honor Society, and are two of the top students in their grades. Lambert has a weighted GPA of 102.66 and Sullivan earned a 95.7. Sullivan also serves as the student body president.
